Nga made the protest while answering reporters' questions about Viet Nam's reactions to the comments on human trafficking in the country published in the 2010 Trafficking in Persons Report that was released by the US Department of State on Monday.
"It is regrettable the US Department of State's 2010 Trafficking in Persons Report makes politically motivated and partial comments on Viet Nam that do not reflect rightly the real situation in Viet Nam although the department had been provided with sufficient information," Nga said.
The spokeswoman stressed that Viet Nam considers trafficking in humans, especially in women and children, a dangerous crime that seriously infringes upon human rights and badly affects social development.
Viet Nam had paid due attention to the fight against human trafficking and already adopted a number of policies and measures to eliminate the crime, Nga said.
Since 2004, the Vietnamese Government has implemented an action plan on preventing and combating the trafficking of women and children with a view to creating changes in public awareness and action, and fundamentally reducing incidents by 2010.
"Viet Nam is actively co-operating with international organisations and joining regional and international forums to share experiences and information, and increase co-ordination in the fight against human trafficking," she said.
The spokeswoman stressed Viet Nam's efforts in preventing and combating human trafficking had positive effects on the entire society and been acknowledged by the international community.
